Important:
- PBMCs are fragile
- If not proceeding directly to thawing and use of PBMCs, place on dry ice or in a liquid nitrogen container
Do:
- Keep frozen at -80C (short term) or in liquid nitrogen (long-term)
- Consider thawing only 1 vial at a time to minimize temperature excursions
Do Not:
- Allow to thaw until ready to use
- We recommend that PBMCs are not vortexed
- Avoid centrifuging the cells to remove the cryopreservative unless the cryopreservative specifically interferes with the procedure*
*You can always centrifuge and replace media after they have been acclimated post-thaw
