This mouse BMP-6 ELISA Kit was based on standard sandwich enzyme-linked immune-sorbent assay technology. A monoclonal antibody from rat specific for BMP-6 has been precoated onto 96-well plates. Standards (Expression system for standard: CHO, Immunogen sequence: S372-H510) and test samples are added to the wells, a biotinylated detection polyclonal antibody from goat specific for BMP-6 is added subsequently and then followed by washing with PBS or TBS buffer. Avidin-Biotin-Peroxidase Complex was added and unbound conjugates were washed away with PBS or TBS buffer. HRP substrate TMB was used to visualize HRP enzymatic reaction. TMB was catalyzed by HRP to produce a blue color product that changed into yellow after adding acidic stop solution. The density of yellow is proportional to the mouse BMP-6 amount of sample captured in plate.

Expression system for standard: Bone morphogenetic protein 6 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the BMP6 gene. It is mapped to 6p24-p23. The bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs) are a family of secreted signaling molecules that can induce ectopic bone growth. Many BMPs are part of the transforming growth factor-beta (TGFB) superfamily. BMPs were originally identified by an ability of demineralized bone extract to induce endochondral osteogenesis in vivo in an extraskeletal site. Based on its expression early in embryogenesis, the BMP encoded by this gene has a proposed role in early development.
