Originally developed by Kendler and Ham for human microvascular endothelial cells, it can also be used for liver cells, smooth muscle cells, and cardiomyocytes. Unlike traditional mediums, MCDB 131 contains trace elements, putrescine, adenine, thymine, and higher concentrations of amino acids and vitamins.
