Hemolysis Assay. Chicken red blood cells (RBCs) were purchased from Innovative Research (Novi, MI) as a 5% v/v suspension in PBS and were used within 2 weeks of purchase. For the hemolysis studies, chicken RBCs were diluted to 2% with PBS immediately before use.
