“Edwardsiella piscicida is a Gram-negative pathogen that causes disease in diverse aquatic 26 organisms. The disease leads to extensive losses in commercial aquaculture species, including 27 farmed U.S. catfish... The type III secretion system (T3SS) often contributes to virulence of 28 Gram-negative bacteria.Briefly, sheep erythrocytes (RBCs) were obtained from Innovative Research 138 (Novi, MI, USA), washed three times with hemolysis buffer, and resuspended in the same 139 buffer to make a final concentration of 3% RBCs [31]…”
