About Dr. Robert S. Langer
Holding a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Cornell University and a Sc.D. in chemical engineering from MIT, Dr. Langer has been a pioneer in the fields of nanotechnology, drug delivery systems, and tissue engineering. After completing his postdoctoral fellowship at Children's Hospital Boston and Harvard Medical School, Dr. Langer joined the MIT faculty in 1978. Over the years, he has received more than 220 major awards, including the U.S. National Medal of Science and the U.S. National Medal of Technology and Innovation.
His innovative research has led to the development of nanoparticles and drug delivery systems, artificial skin for burn victims, and organ-on-a-chip technology, significantly impacting patient care and medical treatments globally. Dr. Langer's work has also been instrumental in the development of COVID vaccines and new treatments for cancer and blindness.
