Porcine Pepsin A Purified lyophilized from Innovative Research is prepared by the method of Anson, J. Gen. Physiol., 22, 79 (1938) using the substrate of hemoglobin. This is a lyophilized powder with a concentration of 2,500 Units/mg dry weight.
This product is useful cleaving proteins preferentially at carboxylic groups of aromatic amino acids such as phenylalanine and tyrosine and will not cleave at bonds containing valine, alanine or glycine.
