While funding and grants for young researchers has become increasingly harder to find there is new hope in looking at alternative sources for funding.

Outside of NIH, many organizations offer grants specific to their causes and designed especially for young researchers who are working toward a common goal.

GENs 2015 list of grants for young researchers features 35 programs. This is up from 25 programs on their 2014 list.

Those added to the list this year include:
-Alexs Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer (ALSF)
-Alzheimers Association
-American Cancer Society
-American Federation for Aging Research
-American Liver Foundation
-Bayer HealthCare
-Boettcher Foundation
-Brain & Behavior Research Foundation
-Conquer Cancer Foundation of the American Society of Clinical Oncology
-Esther A. & Joseph Klingenstein Fund and the Simons Foundation
-Lymphoma Research Foundation (LRF)
-Alfred P. Sloan Foundation
-The Sontag Foundation
-Tri-Institutional Breakout Awards for Junior Investigators
